Microsoft Remote Desktop 8 App Reviews

Almost impossible to use with Windows 10. It freezes, crashes, works very slow. Made using my remote computer with Windows 10 almost impossible to use. Sometimes it can’t connect and shows Windows 10 login screen forever. Sometimes It shows my desktop but that’s all. It doesen’t react at any input. Well… I never connected from the first time successfully after I upgraded Windows 8.1 to 10. Disaster. Shame for you MSFT for not testing that app with Windows 10

It just crashes when I attempt to connect

When running full screen in OS X Native mode, a few pixels at the top of the screen are cut off, so the titles and buttons of remote windows are barely visible. OS X El Capitan 10.11.4, MacBook Pro Retina 15".

Sound in video or stream became distorted after 10-15 minutes, then stops until reconnect. All in WiFi N 5Ghz network, where PC to PC and Mac to Mac works ideally. Did not test gateway scenario, or low bandwigth internet yet. Macbook Pro 2012 2016 update: After a year, mac mini, same old story

When running full screen in OS X native mode, the top of the screen are cut off. If u change the window size and restore to full screen, everythings displays correctly. iMac 27" Retina 5K (late 2014), OS X El Capitan 10.11.4

Screen is moved on several hundred pixels above. So desktop is moved above screen in fullscreen mode. Still unsolved!

- Crashes all the time. Using version 1.0. + good performance (if the app works …)

Why removing search window? If you have more than 3 saved connection thre’s no way to find the one you’re looking for. Some suggestions: MDI Window? Grouping saved connection ?

The full screen on Yosemite is not solved, if you configure a session to start in full screen it will cut off the very firts part of the screen, you have to reduce to a window and then go full screen to have the correct visualization.

After last update now the app crashes also on Mavericks! A new update is probably necessary.

it doesn’t work after having updated. It fails to input the correct password.

Resolution issue after switch fro full screen to windows in this version

This software works great, the only bug i can report is that scroll down don’t work when connecting form my mac to our linux Ubuntu servers (tested multiple ubuntu distribution)

Always worked, now 8.0.23 crashes on startup on OSX 10.7.5

the only time Microsoft does something that goes really well, find a way tu ruin it! Until the prvisius version, everything worked perfectly, with version 8.0.23 with OS 10.75 crash on launch. On MS forum, a moderator says that the program is ok, to update the operating system. Unfortunately, on imac 17 with core 2 is not possible. And the older version of the app is not found anywhere else.

I have been using this app successfully to connect my Mac (Yosemite) to my office PC (Windows 8.1) for 5 months. After the update today, I am no longer able to stay connected. I can log in fine, but within 1 to 2 minutes am disconnected. The app does automatically reconnect, but I get disconnected again after a minute or two. It is impossible to do any work on my remote computer because I cannot stay connected long enough. Any suggestions?

The app stopped functioning properly after update 8.0.12. Every version since then will successfully connect to a black screen or a frozen screen. I was keeping version 8.0.12 docked but it now updates automatically to the latest version which doesn’t work. The only way I’ve been able to use this crap is to keep the old version in my downloads folder and launch the app from my downloads folder whenever I want to use it.

Whatever you guys did to this new release it keeps disconnecting my sessions. I really liked this client but its pretty much useless until this gets resolved.

This does the job, and does it well. No complaints there. My only complaints are more annoyances. Why have a checkbox for do not show again on the splash screen if it will always show the splash screen no matter what the state of the checkbox is? Also, since about 3 updates ago the screen size is slightly messed up. Now it cuts off 1/2 the buttons at the top of the screen if you are in full screen mode and a window is also full screen. Basically if I have IE open full screen on my workstation and I remote in using my Mac 1/2 of the buttons on the top right side of IE are cut off. Everytimg I try to close a window my Mac’s finder bar appears. This never happened in the past, like I said only within the last few updates. Outside of these two minor items this has got to be the best remote access utility on a Mac to access a Windows system. Update - Why have a “Do not show this” on the splash screen if the software ignore’s your selection and shows it anyway?

Using this to admin servers. Much better than “Remote Desktop Connection for Mac”. Allows use of command key in a smiliar fashion to windows key when in remote session. Hopefully stable enough to enable adequate monitoring/usage of windows for administration purposes.
